馬來西亞「東方日報」報導，阿尼法（AnifahAman）認為在東協精神下，所有影響東協成員國的問題都會透過一個惠及所有受影響國家的解決方案，因此這次他希望能親自前往緬甸，聆聽緬甸所面對的困難，才決定下一步安排。
他說，雖然東協國家不會干涉其他成員國的內政，但難民潮影響國家已經不單是緬甸、大馬、印尼或東協的問題，而是國際社會的課題。
不過，他指出大馬今年是東協輪值主席國，因此將在29日於曼谷舉辦的「印度洋非法移民問題的特別會議」中召開小型的東協領袖會議，趁機討論這次難民潮。同時，他說受影響的國家將持續與緬甸接洽，以找出非法移民問題的長期解決方案。1040521
